  22. This guide contains the information you need to install our
  23. Windows 95 drivers and tools for your Hercules product.

  26. If You're Updating From An Earlier Release
  27. ==========================================

  29. If you already have an earlier version of our Power Drive<tm>
  30. Windows 95 driver installed, you should run the UnInstall
  31. program located in the Hercules PowerTools program group
  32. before continuing.  Doing this removes the previous release
  33. of software from your hard drive, as well as all old
  34. references to the drivers and utilities in your configuration
  35. files.  The UnInstall program will also change your display
  36. driver back to the standard VGA driver.  After running the
  37. UnInstall program, restart your computer.  You will be asked
  38. for the first diskette of the new Hercules software.  Windows
  39. 95 will install the new driver.  When asked to restart the
  40. computer, select "No".  You will now be ready to install this
  41. new software for the Windows 95 desktop.

  44. Running the SETUP Program
  45. =========================
  46.  
  47. If you received this software release on diskettes, you'll find the
  48. SETUP.EXE program on Disk 1 of our Windows 95 Driver and Utilities
  49. diskettes -- the very same diskette that contains this README.TXT
  50. file.  If you've downloaded our software from one of our online
  51. services, you'll find the SETUP.EXE in the archive -- it will be in
  52. the same directory as is this README.TXT file.
  53.  
  54. To install the driver and utilities, just run our SETUP.EXE program.
  55. If you run it from the task bar, make sure you type the entire path to
  56. the directory that contains SETUP.EXE.  Otherwise, you might
  57. accidentally launch somebody else's setup program.
  58.  
  59. SETUP.EXE can install the Power Drive driver, our new Touch 95<tm> and
  60. Hercules Entertainment Center<tm> utilities, or both.  To
  61. automatically install everything, choose the "Typical" option when
  62. using Setup's "wizard" installation interface.  There's nothing more
  63. to do!

  66. What's New In This Release

  69. Release 1.23 of this software contains the following improvements
  70. over previous release:

  72. - Duplicated cursor issue has been fixed in this release.
  73.  
  74. - Higher refresh rate has been supported in this release.

  77. Known Limitations
  78. =================
  79.  
  80. - Video playback is not available when using the viewport (virtual
  81.   desktop).
  82.  
  83. - When using a viewport, your viewport's maximum refresh rate is
  84.   limited to the maximum refresh rate of the desktop area if you use
  85.   the Auto refresh rate option.  For example, if you're using a
  86.   desktop area of 1280x1024x256 and a viewport area of 800x600, the
  87.   maximum refresh rate is determined by the maximum refresh rate
  88.   supported by your card at 1280x1024x256.  However, you can
  89.   circumvent this issue by manually selecting a viewport refresh rate.
